The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education has officially called for applications for admission to the National College of Education on Technology (NCOET), Kuliyapitiya for the 2026 Intake. Selected candidates will follow a 4-year Pre-Service Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Degree Programme conducted in English medium.
- Admission of 210 Student Teachers to National College of Education on Technology, Kuliyapitiya, to follow a Four-Year Pre-Service Bachelor of Education Degree Course (English Medium) based on 2024 G.C.E. (A/L) Results – 2026
A total of 210 student teachers will be recruited based on the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination results.
List of Available Courses (B.Ed Degree Programs)
Applicants can apply for the following degree programmes:
- Engineering Technology (ET)
- Bio Systems Technology (BST)
- Information Technology (IT)
Each course will recruit 70 students, making a total of 210 admissions.
Educational Qualifications & Subject Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Passed the 2024 G.C.E. (A/L) Examination in one sitting
- Passed required G.C.E. (O/L) subjects, including Mathematics and Sinhala/Tamil
- Obtained at least a simple pass in English Language or English Literature at O/L level
Specific A/L subject requirements apply for each course.
Course No. 01 – Engineering Technology
Applicants should satisfy one of the following:
- Passed Engineering Technology / Science for Technology with approved Technology stream subjects
OR - Passed Combined Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry under Physical Science stream
OR - Passed Combined Mathematics/Advanced Mathematics with Physics under any other stream
Course No. 02 – Bio Systems Technology
Applicants should satisfy one of the following:
- Passed Bio Systems Technology / Science for Technology with approved Technology stream subjects
OR - Passed Biology with Physics/Agriculture and Chemistry under Biological Science stream
OR - Passed two subjects among Biology, Physics, Agriculture & Chemistry under any stream
Course No. 03 – Information Technology
Applicants must have:
- Passed Information & Communication Technology (ICT) as a main subject together with two other subjects at A/L Examination.
Applicants with higher grades and marks in ICT will be given priority during selection.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be citizens of Sri Lanka
- Be unmarried
- Be physically and mentally fit
- Be not more than 25 years of age as at 01.01.2026
Course Duration & Benefits
- Duration: 4 Years
- 3 years residential training + 1 year internship
- Monthly allowance and hostel/meals facilities valued at Rs. 10,500 during training periods
- Successful candidates will receive a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Degree and government teaching appointments after completion

- Students currently following state university degree programmes
- Married/divorced applicants
- Those already following or who abandoned National College of Education courses

Selections will be made based on:
- Z-Score
- District and national quotas
- Interview performance
- Practical assessments and physical/mental fitness evaluations
