Selection of Marking Examiners (Paper Marking) for G.C.E A/L Examination 2026, conducted by the Department of Examinations
The Department of Examinations has invited applications from qualified teachers, teacher advisors, and education officers for the selection of Marking Examiners (Paper Marking) for the G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination 2026.
Who Can Apply?
- Teachers serving under the Ministry of Education or Provincial Education Departments.
- Teacher Advisors involved in G.C.E. Advanced Level subject-related activities.
- Other eligible education officers with experience in A/L answer script marking.
Applicants should possess the relevant academic and professional qualifications related to the subject applied for.
Eligibility Requirements
- Hold a degree or diploma relevant to the subject applied for.
- Have an official teaching appointment in the relevant subject.
- Be actively engaged in teaching G.C.E. Advanced Level students (Grades 12 and 13) or performing duties related to the relevant A/L subject curriculum.
- Meet all qualifications specified by the Department of Examinations.
Important Conditions
- Applicants who are currently facing disciplinary investigations or have been barred from examination duties are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants whose family members are sitting for the G.C.E. A/L Examination 2026 are not eligible to serve as marking examiners.
- Incomplete applications will be rejected.
Marking Centres
Marking centres are expected to be established in the following locations: Colombo, Maharagama, Horana, Kalutara, Negombo, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Badulla, Galle, Matara, Kurunegala, Kuliyapitiya, Anuradhapura, Kegalle, Kandy, Batticaloa, Vavuniya, Jaffna
The Department notes that some centres may not be established if an adequate number of applications are not received. Applicants are therefore advised to indicate a second preference as well.
Application Method
Applications must be submitted online only via: https://onlineexams.gov.lk/eic/
Government school teachers should submit their applications online through the recommendation of the Principal. Relevant officers must certify applications as instructed by the Department of Examinations.
