Admission for Schools of Agriculture – Diploma in Agricultural Production Technology 2026

National Diploma in Agricultural Production Technology (NVQ Level 5) Course Conducted at Agriculture Schools – Department of Agriculture, Sri Lanka

Applications are now invited for the Open Competitive Examination for the enrolment of students to follow the National Diploma in Agricultural Production Technology (NVQ Level 5) at Sri Lanka Schools of Agriculture for the Academic Year 2027/2029.

The programme is offered at the following Schools of Agriculture:

• School of Agriculture – Anuradhapura
• School of Agriculture – Bibila
• School of Agriculture – Labuduwa
• School of Agriculture – Palamunai
• School of Agriculture – Paranthan
• School of Agriculture – Wariyapola

Course Duration

• 1 ½ Years Full-Time Residential Programme
• 1 year of institutional training at the School of Agriculture
• 6 months of industrial training under the supervision of NAITA

Eligibility Requirements

A/L Pathway

• Passed the G.C.E. O/L Examination in not more than two sittings with passes in at least six (06) subjects, including Mathematics and Science.
• Obtained Credit Passes (C) or above in the Language subject and any other two subjects.
• Obtained at least a Simple Pass (S) in English Language either within the above two sittings or in any subsequent sitting.
  AND
• Have sat for the G.C.E. A/L Examination in the Biological Science Stream with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Agricultural Science, and obtained at least one pass in one of these subjects.
  OR
• Have sat for the G.C.E. A/L Examination in the Technology Stream with Bio Systems Technology/Engineering Technology, Science for Technology, and Agricultural Science, and obtained at least one pass in one of these subjects.

NVQ Pathway

• Possess a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4 certificate in an agriculture-related field, such as:
  • Agricultural Extension Assistant
  • Nursery Development Assistant
  • Landscape Technician
  • Landscape Development Assistant
  • Any other agriculture-related NVQ Level 4 qualification recognized by the Department of Agriculture.

The course is open to both male and female applicants

Age Limit

• A/L applicants: 18-25 years as at 30 June 2026
• NVQ Level 4 applicants: 18-35 years as at 30 June 2026
