The results of the 2 competitive examinations conducted for the recruitment of graduates to the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service are expected to be released before the end of September 2026, according to the Ministry of Education.
The examinations were conducted by the Department of Examinations on 24 May 2026 (Sunday) at examination centres islandwide.
The two examinations were:
- Limited Examination – Recruitment of Graduates in the Public Service to the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service – 2023 (2026)
- Open Examination – Recruitment of Graduates to the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service – 2026
Both examinations covered Sinhala, Tamil and English medium teacher vacancies in National and Provincial Schools across the island.
Based on the results of these examinations, 23,000 graduates are expected to be recruited to the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service.
- 15,000 graduates are expected to be recruited through the examination conducted for graduates already serving in the Public Service.
- 8,000 graduates are expected to be recruited through the examination conducted on an open basis.
The interviews are scheduled to be held in October 2026, while the recruitment of selected candidates is planned for December 2026, according to the Ministry of Education.
