Calling for Applications – Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment of Grade III of the Sri Lanka Inland Revenue Service (SLIRS) 2026
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has officially called for applications for the Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Grade III of the Sri Lanka Inland Revenue Service (SLIRS) – 2026. Applications are invited to fill 200 vacancies in the Sri Lanka Inland Revenue Service Grade III.

Educational Qualifications
Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:
- A First Class or Second Class Bachelor’s Degree awarded by a Sri Lankan or foreign university recognized by the University Grants Commission (minimum three-year degree), or
- Be an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, or
- Be a Chartered Accountant.
Age Limit
Applicants must be between 22 and 28 years of age as at 31 August 2026.
- Minimum Age: 22 years
- Maximum Age: 28 years
- Eligible Date of Birth: From 31 August 1998 to 31 August 2004
Government and Provincial Government employees may apply up to 35 years of age, subject to the relevant conditions.
Selection Procedure
Recruitment will be based on:
- Written Examination
- General Interview (to verify qualifications)
Appointments will be made according to the merit order based on the written examination results and the number of vacancies available.
Written Examination
The written examination consists of three papers:
- Comprehension
- Intelligence Test
- General Knowledge
Candidates must obtain at least 40 marks in each paper to qualify for the interview.
Examination Medium
The examination will be conducted in:
- Sinhala
- Tamil
- English
Candidates must answer all papers in the same language medium selected in the application.
