Northern Province Technical Assistant (Agricultural Extension) Vacancies 2026

The Northern Province Public Service Commission has called for applications for the Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to the post of Technical Assistant (Agricultural Extension) Grade III in the Northern Province Department of Agriculture.

• Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Post of Technical Assistant (Agricultural Extension) Grade III under the Department of Agriculture in Northern Province – 2026

A total of 52 vacancies are expected to be filled through this competitive examination. Applications will be accepted until 12 June 2026. The examination is scheduled for July 2026.

Educational & Professional Qualifications

Applicants should have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination with:

• Six (06) subjects in not more than two sittings
• Including Language or Literature (Sinhala / Tamil / English), Mathematics, and two other subjects with Credit Passes
• At least five (05) subjects should be passed in one sitting.

In addition, applicants should possess one of the following professional qualifications:

• Two-year Diploma in Agriculture from a government-approved institution
  OR
• NVQ Level 5 qualification relevant to the field
  OR
• An equivalent qualification accepted by the Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).

Examination Structure

The written examination will consist of two papers:

1. Aptitude Test
2. General Knowledge & Subject Knowledge related to Agriculture

Age Limit

• Age should be between 18 – 35 years as at the closing date of applications
