Important Information on Foreign University Affiliated Degree Programs – Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education has issued a important notice urging students and parents in Sri Lanka to verify details before enrolling in foreign university-affiliated degree programs

Students are advised to verify the following details before enrolling

• Updated Agreement / Memorandum of Understanding: Check whether a valid agreement exists between the local institute and the foreign university.
• Recognition of the Foreign University: Confirm that the foreign university is listed in the Commonwealth Universities Yearbook or the World Higher Education Database.
• Adequate Facilities: Ensure that the local institute has sufficient facilities to effectively deliver the degree program.
• Student Registration: Verify whether the local institute facilitates direct registration of students with the foreign university.

To verify the list of officially recognized degree programs, students can visit www.mohe.gov.lk and follow these steps:

Additionally, students can download the extraordinary gazette notifications detailing recognized degree programs up to February 28, 2025.
