Recruitment to the Student Nursing Training Course (Year 2026) – Conducted at the Nurses Training Schools (NTS), Ministry of Health
The Ministry of Health & Mass Media has called for applications from eligible Sri Lankan citizens for recruitment to the Student Nursing Training Course (Year 2026). The training programme will be conducted in government Nurses Training Schools (NTS) across Sri Lanka.
- Eligible: G.C.E. A/L Batches – 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024
- Full-time training programme of 3 years
- Training conducted in English Medium

Educational Qualifications
G.C.E. (O/L)
- Should have passed 06 subjects with credit passes for Sinhala/ Tamil Language, Mathematics, Science and English in the G.C.E.(O/L) examination
- These qualifications must be obtained in not more than two sittings.
G.C.E. (A/L) – Bio Science Stream
- Bio Science Stream: Should have passed any 03 subjects from Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture, Physics, and Mathematics, which belong to the Bio Science subject stream in one sitting at the G.C.E. A/L
OR - Physical Science Stream: Should have passed any 03 subjects from Combined Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Advanced Mathematics, which belong to the Physical Science subject stream in one sitting at the G.C.E. (A/L)
(A/L examinations of 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024 are eligible. General English and Common General Test are not considered as subjects.)

Age Limit
Applicants must be between 18 and 28 years of age as at 29 May 2026.
Other Requirements
- Minimum height: 4’10” (147.3 cm)
- Applicant must be unmarried
- Both male and female candidates can apply
Selection Procedure
Recruitment will be carried out according to the Sri Lanka Nursing Service regulations. Candidates will be selected on a district basis according to the allocated vacancies based on the Z-score obtained at the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination.
Important Notes
- Only one application can be submitted.
- Applicants who sat the A/L examination in multiple eligible years should apply using only one preferred examination year.
- Providing false information will result in disqualification and legal action.
- Application fee: Rs. 1,000
