Calling for Applications – Limited Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Grade III of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) – 2026
The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has officially called for applications for the Limited Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Grade III of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) – 2026. Applications are invited to fill 40 vacancies in the SLAS Grade III.

Educational & Service Qualifications
Applicants must possess a degree awarded by:
- A foreign or state university recognized by the University Grants Commission; or
- A university established by an Act of Parliament in Sri Lanka; or
- A degree recognized under Section 25A of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978.
In addition, applicants must have completed the required active and satisfactory service period in the specified permanent, pensionable government service position:
- At least 5 years of service under the specified salary codes; or
- At least 10 years of active and satisfactory service under the specified conditions.
Age Limit
Applicants must be not more than 53 years of age as at the date of fulfilling the qualifications. Accordingly, only persons born on or after 28 August 1973 are eligible
Number of Attempts
- A candidate is not allowed to sit for the examination more than 3 times.
- However, examinations taken under previous Service Minute/Service Scheme arrangements are not counted when calculating the number of attempts for this examination.
