Calling for Applications – University Admission for Academic Year 2025/2026 by the University Grants Commission (UGC)

Admission to the Undergraduate (Degree) Courses of the Universities in Sri Lanka for Academic Year 2025/2026

• Based on the G.C.E. A/L Examination – 2025

📅 When Will Applications Open & Close?

• Applications open: 28 April 2026
• Closing date: 19 May 2026
• Late applications will not be accepted

Minimum Requirements for University Admission – Candidates must have satisfied the following requirements to be eligible for university admission:

• At least ‘S’ grades in all three approved subjects
• Must be obtained in one sitting
• Within a maximum of three (03) attempts
• A minimum of 30% marks for the Common General Paper

University Admission Handbook 2025/2026 – Available Methods

Applicants can obtain the University Admissions Handbook by paying Rs. 1000.

Practical / Aptitude Test

Candidates applying for selected courses such as Music, Dance, Art, Drama, Architecture, Sports Science, and related programmes must face and pass the practical / aptitude test conducted by the relevant university. 🔗 Aptitude Test Application Updates → Click Here

Applications for aptitude tests must be submitted directly to the respective university. Passing the aptitude test alone is not enough – students must also meet the required Z-Score cut-off for selection.

Disqualifying for University Admission

• Sat for G.C.E. A/L more than 3 times
• Already registered in a State University or Higher Education Institute under free education
• Students already following HND / NDES full-time courses (without proper withdrawal)
• Already completed a first degree
• Students who submitted false information or fake documents
• Submitted false declarations or forged documents for university admission

Application Process

• Apply online through UGC website → www.ugc.ac.lk
• Enter your details correctly
• Submit online application
• Print the completed application
• Send the printed hard copy to UGC by registered post
