Educational Qualifications
Applicants should have:
G.C.E. (Ordinary Level)
Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination in one sitting with six subjects, including credit passes in:
- Sinhala/Tamil/English Language
- Science
- Mathematics
- One other subject
G.C.E. (Advanced Level)
Passed the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination in one sitting in three subjects belonging to the Mathematics/Technology stream, including at least two subjects from:
- Pure Mathematics
- Applied Mathematics
- Combined Mathematics
- Physics
The General English paper is excluded from these requirements.
Professional Qualification
Applicants should possess either:
- National Diploma in Technology (NDT) awarded by the University of Moratuwa or Ampara Hardy Technical Institute; or
- Another technical qualification accepted as equivalent by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.
Residency Requirement
Applicants should have been continuously residing in the Eastern Province for at least one year immediately preceding the closing date of applications.
Alternatively, applicants who have married a person who has continuously resided in the Eastern Province for at least three years and subsequently moved to the Eastern Province may apply, subject to documentary proof.
Age Limit
- 18 years or above
- Not more than 30 years
Examination Papers
The written examination consists of two papers:
- Aptitude Test – 100 marks – 1 hour
- Subject-related Technical Test – 100 marks – 2 hours
Candidates must obtain at least 40% marks in each paper to qualify.
